LEADERS DON’T STOP LEARNING

2 Timothy 2:15 , Daniel 12:4 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Proverbs 1:1-33
The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth— Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance..
Proverbs 1:1-5.
These opening words of King Solomon should be the attitude of every leader, if they are to be effective and relevant.
Effective and successful leaders keep their minds open to new things because they know that no matter how high their level of education, there’s always more to discover. Revelation is progressive but it takes an open mind and heart to grasp that which is being unveiled.
Learning is the key to growth and leaders who understands cultivate in them a teachable spirit. Rick Warren said , “if you stop learning, stop leading”. Meaning if one stops learning, they automatically loose their authority and leading role.
According to 2Timothy 2:15, the Apostle Paul encourages Timothy to study scripture that he may present himself to God a worker who has no need to be ashamed rightly deviding the word. Continual development in Scripture study helps leaders to be at a place of authority.
Mahatma Gandhi said, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever”. As Christian leaders let us up the game of learning that we may be relevant at all times. The environment around us changes continuously and unless we respond to those changes we quickly become irrelevant in our way of leading. And remember if as leaders we stop learning we reach a platue, meaning we will become the cielling to development in the church we lead. And therefore produce after our own kind, and none will break through past us. So may God help us to be open to personal, development that will enhance our leadership and others.
In Daniel 12:4 speaks of knowledge increasing in the last days. Now I can imagine a stagnant leader who desist from learning in such an environment depictected by Daniel 12. My fellow sisters let us not be content with what we have and were we are, but let us push hard to be at a place of continual development in knowledge and skill. The word of God says, “David,
with upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand. Psalm 78:72. I pray that we should not be found wanting, let us learn and continue to lead.
What keeps leaders from growing is often is our busy schedules (kutsvaga mari nezvimwewo). All these keep us from focusing on what is most important. Thus we can live with the illusion we are leading yet we are not actually helping the ministry move forward but are rather managing the status quo.(Mwari tibatsirei)
Finally I want to say, let us be very careful not to have the *title, the responsibility, and authority without leadership.*
Leadership is helping the ministry move forward in clarity toward a defined goal and meet the new challenges of the day.
